Fewer Weeds. Stronger Grass. Here’s How Graze-ON Works

One of the most important parts of choosing a pasture product is understanding what it is designed to do.

Horse owners deserve realistic expectations, especially when they are investing time and money in improving their land. Did you know?

Graze~ON by Farrier’s Magic is not an instant weed killer. It does not make existing weeds disappear overnight, and it is not intended to replace every other part of pasture management.

Graze~ON works differently by supporting established grass and helping reduce the number of newly germinating weeds that become established.

The distinction matters.

Graze~ON combines corn protein meal, commonly referred to as CPM, with sunflower hull ash. Each ingredient contributes something different to the pasture.

CPM supplies nitrogen, an essential nutrient for healthy grass growth. When established grasses receive the support they need, they can grow thicker and create stronger competition for available space, sunlight, water and nutrients.

CPM also provides natural pre-emergent activity. This means it works during the germination process rather than killing mature weeds that are already visible in the pasture. It helps interrupt the next generation of weeds as they begin to develop.

Existing weeds still need to be managed. Regular mowing remains an important part of a Graze~ON program because it helps control mature weeds and keeps them from producing and spreading additional seed. The combination of supporting desirable grass, reducing new weed establishment and managing existing weeds can gradually shift the pasture in a better direction.

Sunflower hull ash provides potassium, another important plant nutrient. Potassium supports root development, plant strength and stress tolerance. A strong root system helps grass use available water and nutrients more effectively, which is especially important during dry weather, heavy grazing or other stressful conditions.

Graze~ON also contains no synthetic herbicides and has zero re-entry time. There is no required waiting period before horses, pets or people can return to the treated area. That is a practical advantage on farms where completely closing a pasture or yard may be difficult.

Flexibility is another important part of the program. Graze~ON can be applied across an entire pasture or used in specific areas that need additional support. A horse owner may choose to begin with thin sections, high-traffic locations or areas where weed pressure is becoming more noticeable. The right approach is one that fits the farm, the budget and the owner’s ability to remain consistent.

Graze~ON should be viewed as one part of a complete pasture-management plan. Mowing, rotational grazing, reseeding, drainage and the management of compaction and grazing pressure still matter. A product can support the pasture, yet it cannot correct overgrazing, standing water or constant traffic on its own.

Understanding what Graze~ON does, and what it does not do, helps horse owners build a practical plan with realistic expectations. It is not about chasing an overnight change. It is about supporting the grass, reducing future weed establishment and steadily improving the pasture over time.
